Road Charging

Road user charging and workplace parking levy are both fiscal measures that can be used to influence traffic demand. Road user charging (RUC) (also known as congestion charging in urban areas) involves charging drivers directly for road use – particularly at congested times and places. A workplace parking levy (WPL) scheme involves a charge to employers related to their provision of parking spaces for workers and business visitors. This levy may then be passed on to employees by the employer.

TTR have participated in many UK studies on both forms of charging and have managed a number of major European projects on road user charging.
