Market Research Experience
Transport policy development and planning depends on an accurate assessment of the behaviour, perceptions, opinions and preferences of people.
Market Research
The following are examples of projects we have undertaken:
QUALITATIVE MARKET RESEARCH
- focus groups for local authorities to develop an understanding of the measures people would like to see introduced through their Local Transport Plan;
- interactive workshops to test public opinion specifically in relation to bus service improvements in Coventry;
- focus groups to assess the views of socially excluded groups toward future transport strategies in the West Midlands;
- in-depth interviews to understand young persons’ attitudes towards using public transport in Sussex;
- focus groups to ensure that TravelWise campaigns are effectively positioned, targeted, monitored and delivered;
- hall tests to assess the potential market impacts of Transport Direct;
- focus groups for the Highways Agency to assess the impact of increasing highway automation;
- workshops to assess rural transport needs for parish transport initiatives in Oxfordshire.
QUANTITATIVE MARKET RESEARCH
- household surveys of travel patterns in Derby, Leicester, Nottingham and these 3 counties for LTP monitoring;
- a countywide postal diary survey of travel patterns in Hertfordshire;
- self completion surveys of staff travel at more than 50 B&Q stores around the UK and Ireland;
- a telephone survey to assess the perceived and existing transport barriers to accessing local and Regional employment and vocational training opportunities in Dartford;
- in-street interviews to assess rural transport needs in Leicestershire and Rutland;
- a household survey of public transport information needs on Merseyside;
- an on-bus survey to gain an understanding of the travel demand for supported bus services in the Borders area of Scotland;
