Centro - Travel Help for the Jobless
Centro has commissioned Transport & Travel Research Ltd to consider the transferability of the WorkWise scheme which currently operates in Nottingham as part of project involving a range of funding bodies including Advantage West Midlands and the Employment Services. WorkWise offers a range of services to job centre users to enable them to travel to job interviews and new jobs. These include cycle loans, travel concessions and personalised travel plans.
TTR is working with local stakeholders to develop a business plan for a similar scheme in two areas of the West Midlands. It is hoped that the West Midlands schemes will benefit other groups pursuing employment and training opportunities, including visitors to careers centres, community centres and colleges.
