Useful Links
Transport & Travel Research Ltd are involved in many projects, some of which create websites to promote and offer information about work that is being carried out for the study. Many of these websites are produced by TTR, others by project partners based in England or in other European countries.
Below is a list of projects in which TTR has involvement, each with a link to a separate project website:
- Biogasmax - is a European project for substainable development. The objective of the BIOGASMAX project is to address urban challenges related to air and water pollution, as well as waste management.
- BIONIC - is a project that will address the issues of biofuel supply and use in transport specifically from the perspective of Local Authorities and will promote developments in regional production and use of transport biofuels.
- CATCH - was a demonstration project in the European Commission's Life-Environment Programme, which finished 2006. It supported the EC's Sixth Environmental Action Programme by promoting sustainable mobility in order to improve air quality.
- Clear Zones - Clear Zones was a Foresight initiative that ran between 1995 and 2005.
- Curacao - builds on the work of CUPID, PRoGRESS and EUROPRICE, in the field of urban road pricing. The overall objective of the project is to coordinate research and monitor the results of the implementation of road user charging as a demand management tool in urban areas.
- ECLIPSE (European Cooperation and Learning to Implement Transport Solutions to combat Exclusion) was one of 24 projects funded under the European Commission 2nd Transnational Exchange Programme (TEP). The aim of the project was to address the issue of the transport impacts on social exclusion and build on the conclusions of MATISSE, another European Commission project.
- EDICT - demonstrates and evaluates new forms of personal transit which can offer effective and sustainable transport for the city of tomorrow.
- ELTIS - is an initiative of the European Commission's Directorate General for Energy and Transport. The project is led by an international team of transport related organisations. The aim of ELTIS is to provide information and support a practical transfer of knowledge and exchange of experience in the field of urban and regional transport in Europe.
- ITISS - was an INTERREG IIIB project with the overall objective of providing real time travel information to transport users whilst on the move. The project website has now closed but further information can be found at this link.
- HSTImpactStudy - is a project within the framework of the HST Integration and HSTconnect projects. The objective of the study is to provide a robust and timely monitoring of the investment locations within the HST Integration and HSTconnect projects.
- MAIN - was supported through the European Commission's Asia Urbs Programme. The aim of the MAIN project was to disseminate to local, regional and city government throughout China ‘best practice' for the development, planning & implementation of intelligent public transport systems together with information about sustainable transport policies.
- MATISSE - (Methodology for Assessment of Transport ImpactS of Social xclusion) was a preparatory action funded by the European Commission's Directorate for Employment and Social Affairs. The objective of the project was to compile and validate an evaluation tool to assess the impact of transport-related policy interventions on social exclusion.
- MAPLE - was a project co-funded by the European Commission's DG for Employment and Social Affairs in 2003.. MAPLE (improving Mobility and Accessibility for People with Learning disabilities in Europe) was a trans-national project to promote and enhance the mobility of people with intellectual disabilities, and people with mental health difficulties, by identifying, investigating and disseminating best practice in making public transport facilities more accessible to them.
- MIDAS - MIDAS is part of the Intelligent Energy for Europe's (IEE's) STEER Programme. The objective of this project was to encourage transfer to less energy intense modes of transport by optimising the use of soft measures aimed at reducing demand for private motorised transport.
- PARTNER - was a transnational project relevant to cities and regions throughout the Atlantic Area. It deals with the broad issue of how to develop efficient and sustainable transport systems.
- PLUME - was a Land Use and Transportation Research: Policies for the City of Tomorrow project in the area of sustainable urban mobility, including land use, transportation, and the environment.
- PRACTISE - co-funded by EC, was a transnational project supporting the implementation of sustainable energy practices in local communities, in conformity with EU goals.
- South London FQP -The South London Freight Quality Partnership (SLFQP) brings together all the main stakeholders in the freight industry across South London. SLFQP's stated vision is, "To develop a common understanding of freight transport issues among the membership and promote constructive solutions which reconcile the need for access to goods and services with local environmental, social and safety concerns".
- START - is an Atlantic Area INTERREG IVB project that has recently been launched to encourage and promote Seamless Travel across the Atlantic area Regions using sustainable Transport (START)
- STEPs - (Scenarios for the Transport system and Energy supply and their Potential effectS) was a project being carried out as part of the European Union Sixth Research Framework Programme, under its ‘Sustainable Surface Transport' priority. Within this programme the purpose of STEPs , was to "strengthen the scientific and technological bases of industry and promote research activities in support of other EU policies"
- SUCCESS -(Smaller Urban Communities in Civitas for Environmentally Substainable Solutions)
- Urban Transport Benchmarking - The European Commission's Urban Transport Benchmarking Initiative was a three year project that concluded in August 2006. This unique project benchmarked different aspects of 45 participating European Cities' transport systems, with themed working groups each researching individual urban transport topics in great depth.
