| Director Chris Douglas Adds to TTR's Sustainable Transport Expertise in London (August 2009) | ||
TTR announces the relocation of Chris Douglas to its London Office, to further strengthen the company's sustainable transport and smarter choices team in London . He joins TTR's London Office at its new location in Grosvenor Gardens , to add his particular expertise in the field of Delivery and Servicing Plans (DSPs) and Freight Quality Partnerships to the existing team of travel planning and smarter choices experts. Chris was formerly Manager of the Department for Transport's Freight Best Practice programme, and a Regional Policy Manager and Transport Advisor for the Freight Transport Association, and is a freight & logistics specialist with over 15 years' experience. New Appointment for TTR's London Office (June 2009) |
||
Donald Chalker joins the TTR London office as a Principal Consultant, from the Central London Freight Quality Partnership, which he managed for two years. He successfully applied his transport and planning background in helping to bring private and public sectors together to improve freight deliveries and servicing in central London . He developed and extended the work of the Partnership during changes in London 's sub-regional structure. He is an experienced project manager, with an understanding of freight, passenger and accessible transport, having worked in both the public and private sectors as a contractor and client . He graduated from Loughborough University of Technology with a degree in Transport Management and Planning, and also has a Master of Business Administration (MBA). |

The "European Biomethane Fuel Conference” will be held in Göteborg (Sweden ), between the 7th and 9th of September 2009 . TTR is pleased to announce the publication of our work, commissioned by Natural England on 'The Impacts of Leisure Travel'. The report identifies and quantifies the impacts of leisure travel on the natural environment and provides information on the social and economic benefits of sustainable lesiure travel. The report also highlights a number of measures which can mitigate these impacts and outlines some potential funding sources for more sustainable travel. | SUCCESS Seminar (September 2008) | ||
Within the frameworks of the European Commission's CIVITAS Initiative and the Intelligent Energy Europe Programme, the CIVITAS-SUCCESS project is organising a training seminar in conjunction with the STEER-MIDAS project on the subject of how best to promote soft measures in transport. The seminar on 31st October 2008 will show how the cities of Liverpool , Preston , Aalborg , Clermont-Ferrand , Ploiesti , and Suceava , supported by European programmes, have undertaken actions amongst the most innovative in Europe. David Rushton is a new arrival in TTR's West Midlands Office, in Lichfield. David, who has lived in Lichfield all his life, joins us as a Consultant, having graduated in “Planning with Transport” from the University of the West of England, Bristol . |

New Arrivals! (June 2008) |

Joze Stivan is an experienced Project Manager & Programme Coordinator with eleven years' professional experience in successful support and delivery of projects in both the public and private sector. Joze's experience includes studies of airport and aviation expansion, transport planning and integration, bus priority measures, traffic enforcement, network management plans and route management strategy. Joze joins TTR as an Associate. Chris Penn , who will be working alongside Joze as a Consultant, graduated from the University of East Anglia with a BSc (Hons) in Environmental Science, and is currently working on Travel Plans for major DIY chain B&Q, Faith Destination Travel Planning and the South London Freight Quality Partnership. Samantha Jones , Samantha Jones, now a Senior Consultant in TTR's Lichfield Office, previously worked at the Tyndall Centre for Climate Change Research. Whilst at the Centre, Sam's responsibilities included project and financial management, as well as staff development and governance strategies. Sam then completed an MA in Applied Research and Consultancy at Lancaster University , during which she worked part-time for Sustrans' TravelSmart scheme during 2007. Immediately prior to joining TTR, Sam carried out some freelance consultancy contributing to community street audits for Living Streets. |

British Retail Consortium (May 2008) |

We at TTR have been working with the British Retail Consortium to help retailers and local councils to discuss the issue of access to town centres. Retailers know that better parking and reduced congestion can increase footfall. The result of this work has been the production of a 'tool-kit' for addressing town centre access issues, which has recently been distributed to local authorities. ECLIPSE (October 2007) |

ECLIPSE ( European Cooperation and Learning to Implement Transport Solutions to combat E xclusion) is one of 24 projects funded under the European Commission 2nd Transnational Exchange Programme (TEP) which forms part of the Community Programme. The aim of ECLIPSE was to address the issue of the transport impacts on social exclusion and build on the conclusions of MATISSE which highlights the important impacts that transport can have in increasing exclusion; and how transport policy, properly integrated in joint working with social agencies could encourage greater inclusion. Partner Project Final Conference (September 2007) |
||
The PARTNER project Final Conference entitled “Sustainable Transport Options for City Visitors” was held on 27 th September 2007. The conference hosted by Merseytravel with support from TTR was held at Blackburne House in Liverpool and reflected the results achieved within the European INTERREGIIIB PARTNER project. The conference, which attracted 80 delegates from the UK and Europe , took a practical approach and covered the following topics:

Transport Practitioners Meeting, Manchester, 7th July 2007 |

At the 2007 Transport Practitioners' Meeting, held at the University of Manchester, Transport & Travel Research conducted an informal survey of the travel choices of those attending the meeting. A total of 49 people participated in the survey, which asked the following questions: How did you travel to the conference in Manchester? Where did you travel from? Chris Douglas joins TTR! (July 2007) |

TTR welcomed a new senior member of staff on the 2nd of July. Chris Douglas joined us as a Senior Associate. Chris is a freight specialist with over 13 years\' experience in operational, advisory and consultancy roles, having previously been with Faber Maunsell, where he was Programme Manager of Freight Best Practice, on behalf of the Department for Transport. His particular project interests include local HGV overnight parking studies, Freight Quality Partnerships (FQPs) and fuel management programmes for operators. Chris is based in TTR\'s Bristol Office. Chris will be assisted in the development of TTR's freight interests by Alan Lewis, who has recently been promoted from Senior Associate to Director, with a place on the Main Board. Alan, who is based in TTR's Nottingham Office, also has interests in the areas of sustainable transport, clean vehicles and alternative fuels. |
