Market Research
Transport policy development and planning depends on an accurate assessment of the behaviour, perceptions, opinions and preferences of people.
Transport & Travel Research can conduct survey fieldwork anywhere in the UK. Our comprehensive service package includes:
- advising the client on the best techniques to gain the most accurate results
- planning the sample, designing the survey and co-ordinating the collection of data
- carrying out sensitive interpretations of findings including in-depth statistical analysis
- producing clear recommendations for decision support.
TTR has firm policies and procedures to minimise and manage risk in its market research activities. These procedures are in full compliance with the Market Research Society codes of conduct.
QUALITATIVE TECHNIQUES
These are applied where there is a need to open the doors to people’s perceptions to understand the motivations, attitudes and decision processes which underlie their travel behaviour and attitudes. Our team of experienced consultants are trained in the use of enabling and projection techniques in order to elicit the expression of deeper levels of response in an indirect way. These techniques are used by our moderators in undertaking qualitative research using the following methods:
- individual in-depth interviews
- focus groups
- interactive workshops
- hall tests
- consensus building exercises
QUANTITATIVE TECHNIQUES
Quantitative research is used to measure, in a statistical sense, the travel attitudes and behaviour of people; to examine both the relative size and structure of market segments and to monitor trends or changes. Survey methods used by TTR include:
- face-to-face personal interviews (household, intercept surveys)
- telephone surveys
- on-vehicle surveys
- roadside surveys
- panel surveys
- postal/self-completion surveys
